“Come and Worship/Come and Listen”

Bible Text: Psalm 95 | Preacher: Pastor Mark Verbruggen | Series: The Liturgy of the Psalms | At the start of a new year, Psalm 95 is a simple and compelling message for the Church of Jesus Christ all over the world. The first seven verses call on us to worship the Lord who is the Creator and the Shepherd of his people. The lesser known second half calls on us to listen to the voice of the Lord. “Come and Worship” is the first part. “Come and Listen” is the second part. The two are connected because to worship is to listen to the voice of God.

And so at the start of a new year it is good we are again reminded of the main thing to which we are to be about: the gospel of Jesus Christ. We need to be both hearing and living it. In this gospel Word we will rest in the finished work of Christ for us.
